Default mufflers

My 18 year old has always wanted his camaro to sound more aggressive. Now he's racking in the money for graduating and he wants to do a new muffler as well as some other stuff. What do we need to know? My car already had the "rumble" when we got it and he's went as far as looking up the numbers on it for comparison.

Can you get your own muffler and have the shop put it on or do they normally carry them? We're looking at an actual muffler shop and probably will call them but if we go in armed with some advice, might help.

Is it stock exhaust? If so to get a real rumble that sounds good go with a magna flow cat back exhaust.

Forget just a muffler, and forget muffler shops! Install a cat-back yourself in the driveway -- easy, just takes a little time... Borla adjustable sounds great on my V6 and woke it up a bit.
