Muffler or Cat-back

Muffler or Cat-back
Alright I know cat's sound great on an 8, but on the flowmaster website they have a 99 3.8 firebird that sounds awesome with just the muffler. I was thinking of getting the 80 series muffler by flowmaster, and just doing the piping. Is this going to sound good, does anyone know?? Oh, does anyone know where I can find an exhaust reducer, 2.25>2.5 in?? the 2.5 is the smallest the 80 series goes for outlets. Thanks for the help guys, later

RE: Muffler or Cat-back
You can probably get a reducer from AutoZone or some thing like that. If the kit is made for your car I would not worry about a 1/4inch. Plus a 1/4inch will not hurt any thing it just might help it breath better some. Flowmasters always sound good

RE: Muffler or Cat-back
If you want to make power you should get a cat back, as the main restriction is where the tailpipe goes over the axle and gets squeezed down to 2 1/2 in, changing muffler does not help the restriction. If you want more noise, just change the muffler. What I found with sixes, is that you can get a nice rumble at idle, but the higher they rev, the more they sound like a six. Which is not bad, just a matter of taste.
