Default Motor Mounts

Hello again.

I am in the process of buying a new 3800 series 2 engine for my Camaro. Massey's swap thread has been a real help but I have a question which I think I know the answer to but wanted to verify.

If you buy a FWD engine, wouldn't you have to weld the motor mounts to accommodate a RWD setup?

No the mounts line up but you have to run the RWD mounts. The RWD and FWD 3800 blocks are the same.

Did you already buy the series 2 or can you back out and get a series 3.

I haven't bought the engine yet but there is a significant difference in price in my area between the two engines ($400 vs $1000). IDK if 20hp is worth $600.

Also, don't you need different injectors and the whole setup for the series 3?

gotta take the top end of your 3.8 and transfer, intake, rack, sensors etc, and from bottom need oil pan. series 2 is older so it would stand to reason that they would have more miles and time on em.

you can get a complete low mile L26 form ebay shipped for around $600, or so one of my friends did, twice. very bad luck with his engine builds.

injector rack and injectors, may need oil pump, not sure if pickup is same but if pan is different pickup usally is, might get away with just changing oil pickup
