Default More HP

Hey guys I have a 95 camaro with a 3.4l engine and a newly installed K&N cold air intake. The new intake isn't giving me enough horsepower and I really want to get more. I do have a price range and would really like any suggestions to really raise my hp a lot. Thanks for the help.

What's the price range, new headers and catback exhaust give you a moderate boost with a 3.4, but if you're looking for real power, then save for a V8 .

How much hp would each of those give me. I really want to get the most hp as I can out of my car. My sister went against me and bought a 3.8L mustang and I just hate how her ford is faster than my chevy. The price range is around 100-200 dollars.

You won't get much with that kinda money. Your next bet is an exhaust. You prolly got less than 10 horsepower gain to the wheels with the intake. An exhaust will only compliment the intake and maximize the potential with it. The real way to make power is to get more air AND fuel in there. But you can't put the fuel in with out the extra air hence the idea of Nitrous Oxide. When it burns, it releases oxygen which allows more fuel to be burnt with it. Super charger and turbo charger introduce more air and with more air add more fuel which yields a higher "explosion" or combustion or energy. You can make the motor more "efficient" by reducing the drag of weight, and the parasitic loss of the drive acessories aka using under drive pullies. One way to make it more efficient is take out the things you don't need. Spare tire and jack when you race. More octane will NOT make you faster. High quality spark plugs, wires, and coil will only give you so much response. It just lets the air/fuel mixture burn more efficiently resulting in better acceleration(torque) and will allow your motor to hit a higher RPM with out misfiring yielding in higher horsepower.

So the only way to catch up to the 3.8l mustang would be to get headers, cat back exhaust, new pulllies, and spark plugs?

I'm just saying there needs to be just a tad bit more than $200 invested. How bad are you losing to it? I think the exhaust would be the next best upgrade.

unless yours are fouled plugs wont be too much of a help. Try the headers exhaust and your intake, plus new pullies and a small shot of N20 lets say 50, then you will have no problem with that ford or even other cars like it for that matter.

I am willing to pay more than $200. Just not all at once. I should have mentioned that earlier. Thanks for all the help though and once I get all the mods i will put pictures up to show ya guys and hopefully take down this pony. In the meantime any more mods to get would be awesome.

sorry bro the 3.4l camaro is mainly designed to have the look not the performance. You should have got a Z28 model, a 93-95 model you can find btwn 3-6 thousand only they are pretty cheap I say sell your 3.4 and get the Z. Do not waste making that car fast cause you will have to dump a lotta money it is not worth it. I sold my 94z great condition ran 13.9 in quarter many mods for 5500. I am sure you can find somethin.
