Moms Camaro
My mother has a 1994 Camaro and is having problems with it just shutting off! The first mechanic she took it to replaced fuel injectors then ignition switch and then tps sensor still cuts off. She drove 12 miles and off again. She has full power when it turn off. It can be hot or cold. Sometime it will start right away sometime 20-30 mins sometime the next day. Seems to happen more when Air is turned on. Now it is back in the shop but the guys there have no idea what is wrong and they dont want to just keep replacing parts. Meantime she has no car.
Please Help!!!

What year & what engine ???
As stated in the original post, 1994.
Far as I know, the 3.8L didn't get offered 'til '95, so this V6 is still the original 3.4L. No special mods (that I can remember adding when we bought it) other than absolute basics like a K&N filter, Hypertech power coil, hp plug wires, and Bosch platinum plugs (which've already been swapped out).
This is my wife's DD ("daily driver")and we could sure use ANY and ALL inputs for remedies as nothing has seemed to work
.Thanks much to those who've already offered help

Guys please see Vickis letter on page two. This is my story as well. I have been having this shutting off problem for over 2 years and noone can figure out what is going on. Three different mechanics have been under my hood. I have recently had my TPS sensor replaced because that came up on the diagnostic. I had my fuelfilter replaced and my ignition switch, and fuel injectors replaced too. The last time I drove 12 miles from the mechanics and broke down when I turned my AC on. I had to leave my car in the Walmart parking lot overnight because it would not start after a couple dozen tries. Came back the next day and it started right up.Back to the mechanics I went. He has had it for over a week and it never breaks down., and nothing shows up on the scan. I told him what Chaoctic Bastard said about the knock sensor and the cps sensor and he is going to check these out. I have lights, radio, etc. when I break down. Unlike Vicki, I do have a little sputtering sometimes right before I break down and my engine revs up real high, I am idling about 3 times higher than normal, If I take my foot off of the brake it will go about 15 mph by itself. This usually happens right before I am going to break down. Please help me with this, I am so tired of breaking down, and it is really a terrible feeling every time I get into my car to think that I am going to be stranded somewhere today. She really is a sweet little red 94 and deserves so much better. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Help me help my mechanic.
Not being in the car when it happens makes it hard to diagnose the trouble. But IMO whatever is causing the problem, is an intermittent electrical problem, which is one of the hardest troubles to pin down. Could be something simple such as a bad battery connection, to some electrical component breaking down at high temp. I would shoot the trouble by riding around with a scanner plugged in and recording, so that when the car dies, there would be a record of what just happened.
Another option, costly, would be to take the car to a Chevy dealer and analyze the engine with the Tech2 tool, they may even have factory bulletins on the problem.

Guys, I still need your help, I had my cps replaced today, and still broke down on the way home when I turned the air on. I wasn't idiling high until I turned the air on. Then even after I turned the air off, I was iding about three times higher than normal. Also if I take my foot off of the brake, the car will go about 40 miles an hour without any acelleration, almost like you have the cruise control on. Please see "car cuts off for no apparent reason" This lady Vicki and I have basically the same problem except it seems a new cps fixed her problem but not mine. Please if anyone else has any ideas let me know. My mechanic wants to put my computer on the passenger seat, and have me tap on it when I have another breakdown????? Any ideas???
