yea i was already planning to do all that. and did you do headers? i was planning to get the midlength pacesetters. Are they tough to do on the 3.8??? my dad thinks he can do it he just wants to know how difficult they are to change on this car.

I did headers, yes. Putting the new headers in is a piece of cake. Getting the stock manifolds out is a PITA. You'll be removing heat shields for what seems like forever with screws in places they should be (There's like 10 heat shields lol).

It's pretty easy, just time consuming.

I've done every bit of work to my car myself. The cam swap was just time consuming and a bit labor intensive. If your family is good with cars, it can be done.

It's best to take off the front clip and radiator/support but you can get away with just taking out the radiator. It'll just be kind of cramped. I would make sure they understand how to change out a cam first though and make sure you lube the lobes before putting the cam in.

Check out the link for the LS1 cam and take some pointers from it. It's the same basic concept.

cool cool, last question. what did you do for air intake? i have a 98' so i need to go check if mine has a angled TB or a straight TB (because i guess they changed halfway through 98') but if its straight i need to decide it i want the K&N air intake or if i want the SLP CAI... Ive been trying to get as much info as i can, from what i read the K&N CAI had about a 6 hp increase, and then from what i read if you get a whisper lid SLP CAI combo, you'll get alot better performance then that. what do you think???

evilkal -- have an audio clip of your idle? Is there a lope?

drewj246 -- the K&N unit is not actually a CAI, plus they list nothing for a '98.

a intake wont do a whole lot until you get a exahust, you gota be able to get the extra air out to reep the benifits of extra air in, you should look at doing some supension mods, the v6 wont make a butload of hp and some supension mods would make it a lot funer to drive

libertyforall you didnt read the thing, K&N doesnt list it because they started making the air intake for the 99-02 Straight TB.. 98 has an angled TB for about half of them, then halfway through they switched to Straight TB just like the 99, so if your 98 has a Straight TB you can use the 99 K&N air intake...

and Bouigha i know this, i am getting an exhaust too look at the mod sheet =p and no im trying to get the fastest v6 i possibly can. just for ****s and giggles. i just want to know if (with exhaust included) will i be getting the most performance out of the K&N intake system (about 6 hp in dynotest) or will i get more of an advantage out of using the whipser lid with an SLP cold air intake inside of it.... thats the question.

Most performance? They will both be near identical and even IF there is say a 5 hp difference, you will not feel it at all. Just get the SLP CAI, debaffle your lid and call it a day. Take that money you save from not shelling out $300 for the K&N, and put it towards new gears.

Yeah, the K&N is $400 for a 6HP gain. Totally not worth it.
