Hi i am the proud owner of a 2001 3800 camaro
Im doing this project not to try to get a v8 or anything like
that, but to have a bad *** v6 Camaro and this is what i'm putting in it
1.msd blaster ignition(175$) ( 5 hp)
2.aluminum drive shaft(125) (5rwhp)
3.obx throttle body spacer(50$)(10hp)
4.Design Engineering's Heat Sheath and longer lengths to cover more of the fuel lines and to keep them cooler
5.dynomax muffler(60$)(5hp
6.cutout(30$)(5hp)
7.cold air intake(130$)(15hp)
total cost estimated around 600$
total hp gain estimated 45hp
So do you think I will see those kinds of
horsepower gains?
or more?
thanks

The aluminum driveshaft shouldn't net you any horsepower. It should just allow your car to accelerate that much quicker. It is a good mod if you have a two piece driveshaft. If you just have the one piece steel, you may want to put that money towards something else. I believe you have the one piece steel driveshaft due to how new your car is.

There's a basic bolt-on thread around here somewhere...

But a basic list for you to get real world/noticable gains would be:

CAI
Full exhaust (headers, OFY, catback of your choice)
gears

Those things will put a dent in your wallet, and get you real gains.

If you have the cash, you can also get the MSD ignition, since the spark is pretty important.

Check towards the top of the v6 page...there should be a 3.8 modification guide or something like that.

yeah ive already looked at that but im going for like lots of less expensive stuff
like not a couple big things but a ton of small things that add alittle horsepower here and there because it all adds up
and after i do this I will add headers but not for a while.

You are spending a lot of money on items that won't add any power to your basically stock engine.
1) MSD balster = 0 gain
2) Aluminum driveshaft = 0 gain
3) spacer = 0 gain
4) heat shields on fuel line = 0 gain, except it may prevent a fire if line is misrouted

5,6,7 These are good mods & will add power

Pete is completely right. tb spacers are pointless. The stock coils are fine, often it is said they are much better than the msd box. Get a cold air intake off ebay from the company called "chrome intakes" and get it with a k&n filter. A tube is a tube, and they're cheaper.
