Mini Starter Ground Wire or No Ground Wire?!
Now I am used to seeing a ground wire for a starter the same size as the battery cables. I looked under my Camaro today and checked out the starter a bit. I saw the positive cable running to the starter and than I see only 1 other wire and its the size of most sensor wires. I couldn't see any other wires or feel any other wires. I was assuming thats the wire for when you turn the key, it cranks up the starter. Shouldn't this thing have a ground wire as well though?! My 01 Z24 had 3 wires coming from it, the power, the switch and the ground. The power and ground were battery cable size (well of course the power was), and the switch wire was even about the size of a monster audio cable. So just let me know if the Camaro is just an oddball and there is no ground or if someone was a moron and didnt put one on. (Maybe this could be part of the starting issue?)
Yes, the smaller wire on the starter solenoid is the "start" wire. Being metal, your entire engine is a conductor. There is an engine to frame/body ground cable or strap elsewhere on the block. If your engine wasn't connected to ground you'd know it, the starter wouldn't work.
