Default Mass Air Flow Sensor Help

anyone know where i can get a new MAF sensor, advance auto parts has it for 180 buxs, i was thinking of goin performance, but i need it quick so my ecu wont read wrong signals and miss fire and so that dumb service engine light will go off, anyone ever heard of using a ls1 or lt1 maf on a v6?

MAF sensors are expensive and a performance unit won't do much for your car unless you have a lot of mods, and the engine can usethe extra air. You can run safely without the MAF, just pull the electrical plug and the PCM will use the data from the MAP sensor instead (default condition). You just will have to put up with the MIL lite till you get a new MAF. Performance may not be at its peak, but it shouldn't be too far off.

How do you measure if you need to upgrade to a MAF that flows more air, i.e. wider? What's the best way to know/measure the need?

Any auto parts store will have it. The wire he is referring to are on the MAF. Remove the sensor and you will see a very thin wire on the end. That is what he's talking about. Cleaning it just involves spraying will cleaner and allowing it to dry before reinstalling it. Use caution when doing so, as the wire is quite fragile.

I'm not sure that would work... The MAF housing and TB your car is one piece. As for the codes, pull the sensor out and inspect for damage and/or cleanliness.
