Default ls1 in a 95 camaro?

I had a question about something for anyone that could answer... I have a 95 camaro that has a 3.4 v6 right now... i have got my hands on a ls1 for very cheap. I know there has to be a lot of things changed... I already have the tranni dirveshaft gas tank kmember and just about all the things i need to swap.. the only thing is i heard the reason the front end of the car was changed in 1998 was because of clearence issues for the ls1??? If any knows about this it would be greatly apperciated if ya could let me know what ya think... thanks a ton

I don't think that is the reason they changed the front end. There is a guy on camarov6.com that just swapped an LS1 into his '97. He said it fits just fine. Belows is the short list of things he mentioned you will need. Another link related to your question... http://www.tacreationsusa.com/3_4_3_8_v6_to_ls1.htm

Leave fuel system alone, its fine
get ls1 k, steering rack
Suspension is fine, ls1 weighs about the same as the 3.8 believe it or not.
Torque arm mount is different, need ls1
Ls1 radiator, the v6 one only has 1 nipple, ls1 has 2
corvette fuel filter/Reg it has a built in return line as the ls1 rail does not
Obviously exhaust, if you think you current setup will work dont even think about the swap
Trans, again with above, if you have to ask dont try it.
Ls1 harness and pcm, You must modify the wiring to work, took me a week to do.
Some sort of intake elbow, coupler for maf and filter
Ls1 non tcs throttle cable, the v6 one will not work.

Default air box

I also had a question about the clearence in the front of the engine bay. I have been hearing the stock ls1 air box is not going to clear the hood... Would a LT1 air flow set up work with the ls1?

lol, there's no clearance issues. Believe it or not, it's popular for the ls1 guys to swap an lt1 front end. It was just a body style change for looks, not functionality.
