Default At a loss over cooling problem...

This is going to be a bit long, want to make sure I get all the details in...

I have a 93 camaro with a 3.4... Bout 140,000 miles

It overheated on me so I changed the thermostat, It was rusted closed!.. It ran fine for 2 days then overheated again so I changed the water pump. (yes it was bad too!)... It worked fine for a day and now it's over heating again!... Since I have owned the car I have changed two radiator hoses, Water pump, Thermostat, had the radiator flushed, Wired to radiator fan to a switch so it work!.... Fan is running, Waterpump is working, Atleast until today the thermostat was working fine, No coolant in oil or exhaust and the coolant level is good... What else could it be? And yes the heater works fine when the car warms up.

After I fix one problem it works fine for a day or two then acts up again... If the sensor was going bad would it work sometimes and just shoot up other times?

Any help is appreciated! I have searched the forum but can't find anything that matches my problem closely

The flush may have not been enough, you may need a new radiator.
I'd have another look at the thermostat to see if it's all gunked up again.
Maybe try running without one for a while to see if it quits overheating.
If the car was run for an extended period on water without antifreeze it may be full of rust and corrosion.

I messed with it a bit today and it seemed like it had a blockage somewhere. I took it to a shop and had a block and radiator flush done... Now the temp is setting about 10deg. higher than normal, but no overheating... So far so good... Only time will tell I guess

I'd start saving your pennies for a new radiator, looks like you will be needing one.

I have a '93 and had a similar problem earlier this year. A new radiator will make a world of difference. Got mine from rock auto online. Haven't had a cooling problem since. My old one was so bad that I just couldn't get decent cooling below 35 mph. Swapped out the radiator and big difference. Swapping the radiator out yourself is not a tough job either. In fact it's pretty easy. I wouldn't screw with blowing your radiator out over and over. If it's still over heating either your radiator needs to be swapped or you have a shot head gasket. One or the other. Check your oil for foam/antifreeze and your exaust for a sweet smell and white smoke. Also your anti-freeze levels. If all is normal then you're probably looking at a radiator swap. I think mine cost something like $120 or something like that. Best of luck!
