Lookng at a '99 Camaro 3.8
Hey guys I am new here and will be buying a v6 camaro soon, I just haven't found the right one. Today, I found on on craigslist, a '99 with 84k miles for $3600. It has a clear title, and from the pics is very clean. I am going to go test drive it tomorrow, and was wondering what to look for with this year and engine, obviously at this price minor things that need to be done won't be a deal breaker. From research, I have made a little list to take with me.
So far I have:
-check the plug wires for cracks/brittle (known problem I guess)
-Gasket between motor and tranny for leaks
-Oil pan leaks
-Vibrations at all speeds
Please add what you would check for when buying this car.
Thanks
*EDIT: Also, you think this could beat my friends "04 mustang 3.8?(stock)

Check ABS light is not on, check tranny fluid (if auto) to make sure it does not have a burnt smell, exhaust leaks, does car pull to left or right when driving or braking. Tread depth on tires. If it has power windows, lower the windows and raise them to see if you will need window motors.

Check the condition of the coolant and look around for an intake leak. It is a very common issue with 3800. I would say it is the most common cause of engine failure. They get an intake leak and either do not notice it or drive it anyway. A short time later they blow a head gasket.
