Default last ditch effort...

I've been looking for a new 3.8L motor and have come to find that there is no used 3.8L camaro motor with below 150k for under 1000 in indiana or any of our bordering states... so my last options may be either sell the car for what its worth (broken piston rod and the motor is locked up) or pay the guy i'm having work on it do the v8 conversion.... whats my best bet?

I'll tell you what everyone told me when they thought I was just gonna get an LS1. sell it and buy one that already has a V8, it'll be less of a headache in the end.

And exactly how did you blow that engine??? those things are practically bulletproof.

Are you saying you could have the V8 swap done for $1000? They sell remanufactured 3.8s for about $1600. Might look into that

First- The owner befor me took crap care of the car and went from what we can tell went 10-12k without an oil change, the tires had never been changed, and the brakes were welded to the rotors. When i got her back in shape she was to far gone internally, I was cruising at 65mph when a piston snapped and started knocking hard, it limped home but when my dad(genious i told him not to start it started it anyway) fired it up about 2 seconds of running and it locked up.

Second- I wish the swap would be 1000 dollars.... what i'm saying is it is rediculous that i can buy a good lt1 with tranny for less than just my v6 motor. The guy doing this has done a v8 swap in one of these cars and knows what he is doing... it just comes down to the cash

Also to ssv6, yes selling it would be the easiest thing to do but i've got over 4500 wrapped up in this car 3000 i still owe, i might get 1500 outa of it. I'd be negative and be vehicle less... i'd like to avoid that situation

Not sure how you would do a V8 swap if $1600 is too much.

no, i'm saying 1600 is to much to pay for ONLY a motor, i know a v8 swap would cost more, i could have it done for about 2k cause i know the guy. but if i'm going to spen 1600 on another v6 i may as well bite the bullet and spend a little more to get the 8
