just got a 89 rs with a 2.8 need to know
well the car looks great the only things wrong is needs fuel pump and from what i read the 2.8 is slow . so ehat can i do to get some more power out of this little v6 the car was free a guy came to me wanting a fuel pump put in it and when i gave him the quot $$$ he said keep it and came back with the title like i saed it looks great .................1 more thing what would it take 2 swap in a 350 it has auto trans

Larger throttle body, recalibrated MASF, exhaust, find some interchangable rockers, and lifters. I'd leave the stock diameter pipe for the exhaust. Put a magnaflow or gibson muffler on it. You can prolly get a custom ground cam for it. (If you can find cam shafts for a 2.2L chevy s10, you can find one for a v6 2.8) high flow cats, CAI, nitrous, turbo etc just to give you some ideas. You can always change your rear end gearing. If you have ***** and deep pockets, you can get the heads ported and polished. You could get under drive pullies. upgrade the ignition system to get maybe 5 hp. Iridium plugs, 8.8 wires, and a bigger coil. You can get a "grounding" kit. It'll just allow your ground to flow easier.
Your V6 tranny won't bolt up to a v8. Get a 700r4 out of any 82-92 z28/ trans am (V8's only) and you'll be good. That 305 will be a helluva wake up call compared to that tired 2.8L. What can you do to a carbed 305? well, alot of things.. Intake is a good place to start and relatively cheap. For about $200 bucks you can get an Edelbrock Air-Gap Intake manifold or for 130 bucks you can get an edelbrock performer RPM manifold. A pair of Summit Headers are 86 bucks for the regular headers or 84 bucks for upswept headers (good for tight spaces) Get a good 4 barrel Carb if it doesn't have a good one on it already (Factory quadrajets suck IMO) Holley's are a pain in the *** to tune. I like Edelbrock carbs or Carter AFB's for the price. check summit racing out or Call them 24/7 at 1-800- 230- 3030
alright thats what im talking about the parts that will set the little 305 off .thanks for the info any more will be great im thinking about a pete jackson noisy gear drive timing set and a good cam what will make the 305 talk and give good power
