Default Interior dash customizing.

Has anyone done any painting or vinyl work to the dash plastic? I'm thinking of freshening it up and painting it but was wondering if anyone has done it and if there's any recommended steps to do it.

I know DarlingReject has done a lot to her interior. Maybe send her a PM to see what she has to say.

yea i got bored and done some painting on mine. i turned the vent housings, radio besel, and piece around the gauges blue and the rest of the dash and center console black. give me some info on your car (exterior color and interior color and year) and i will throw my opinion in the hat as well.

NEEDED: cotton rags, a BIG bottle of alcohol(NOT LIQUER), color paints you want(DUPLICOLOR VYNIL AND FABRIC) spray paint is the best for this, Q-Tips, and a spare day to do all this if you want it done RIGHT.

DO NOT USE PREP SPRAY ON PLASTIC PARTS IT MESSES THEM UP.

1. take parts off and get somewhere warm with no wind
2. fold you rag and soak one side in alcohol, scrub the crap out of the pieces getting painted let dry and repaet 3-4 times (to get grease, dirt and armor all off of it so the paint will stick good) use q-tipes to clean every little crack to do it right.
3. put VERY thin coats of paint on the pieces and give it about 10 minutes in between coats, repeat as many time as needed to get good cover with no runs of bloches (normally 3-5 coats is what it takes)
4. give it about 3 hours to completely set and then you are good to go.
DO NOT: paint anything BUT the dash itself inside the car and tape news paper up EVERYWHERE to keep from getting it on anything else, take every piece you can out of the car to paint it
DO NOT: half *** do any of these steps because then you will have a "half ***" paint job and thats not cute at all.
DO NOT: try this yourself if you arent decent with a can of spray paint
DO NOT: put any obsene or retarded colors in it as i will track you down and slap you lol (like lime green on a black car) i have blue and black on a blue and silver car. my blue was not midnight blue like the can said, somebody had switched the lids so friday i am going to REDO it in dark blue like it was suposed to be. but i will try to post some pics on here for you! hope this is helpful

Wow nice colors. Midnight blue would look amazing. It's a dark green exterior with dark grey interior. The dash is black but faded. What brand of paint did you use? I want to go black but I'm not sure about accent colors yet as i don't want green. Thanks for all the info.

its called "Vynil and Fabric" and its made by duplicolor. yes i would do it black and keep me updated with some pics. as far as accent colors, thats gonna be hard to work with. if it was me and with dark green, i would just black it out. and maybe silver on the shifter **** and the radio bezel just to add some life in it. and if your doing the doors i would silver the speaker cover screens, but thats it. more will be to wild and less will be just plain and dull. that will just make it stand out and i think you will be very happy with it when you are done.

Ya black is a forsure. Silver hey? Might have to test it out on the speaker panels and see how it looks. I'll post pics of it when I get er done. Hopefully this next week while I'll have a garage to work in. I really just don't like the faded black. I like shiny lustful black.

i know what you mean, it will completely change the look of the car, and the silver is not gonna be tacky with the dark green, it will just make the black stand out better

Silver would also match my rims I got for the summer. Did you paint your steering wheel? Looks like you left it in the picture.

Ok so I can get Most of the dash paneling out except the big one right under the windshield. Is there clips right tight to the windshield? Do I just have to put my hand under it and try popping it up like all the other clips on it?
