Default RE: Idle problems?

My 88 has an intial start-up problem almost similar to yours but maybe not as bad. In my case my vehicle suffers from bad valve seals which allow oil to seep into the combustion chamber while car sits for awhile. Then when I fire up the engine, it takes about 30 sec. to clear itself. The idle starts off low them jumps up then stabilizes. I don't know if your year is MPFI but if it is and is mass air, check the hose in between the throttle body and flow sensor for cracks. How's the mileage and oil consumption? As gotch said above, mayalsowant to check your IAC (idle air control)valve for excessive carbon build up.
