When my car is idling and i just lightly tap the gas it shakes and then it goes up with the RPMs what might be causing the problem?

Sounds like it is misfiring. Does the SES light flash when it is shaking? Do you have any codes? Could be something simple as plugs and wires, bad coil or could be more complicated, depending on if you have codes or not.
