Your gauge is fine. I don't think Chappie saw that you wrote that your gauge does move, but while sitting still.

my guage has moved up past the middle and then quickly back down a few times. it did it after i had my radiator flushed. hasn't did it in a while. i had intake gaskets and a waterpump installed a couple months or so ago, and that cost a boatload. could it just be the thermostat sticking?

I GOT FUKED OVER WHEN I BOUGHT MY CAR.. im guessing it already had a blown headgaskest.. then it overheated and i had to get a new engine and water pump.. when water pumps go bad they make one of the worst noises ive ever heard on a car

Sounds like that is your culprit. Well if you're at speed and it does that. If it's doing it at a stand still, it's normal.

yea, it does it when i'm driving. i've had trouble with it overheating before, as i've said, and reading this made me worry that it could be the head gasket. i checked my oil and it's normal, no antifreeze, so i think i'm safe. my car is slowly going downhill at 190xxx miles, and everything that is going wrong isn't the engine, it doesn't use a drop of oil. the rear end is starting to make noises, synchro in 2nd gear is messing up, carrier bearing in driveshaft is going bad. i know as soon as i fix all of that then it'll be time to get a new engine. but, i love my car, so i'm gonna save up and do it.
