everytime i go over a fairly big bounce or almost any kind of decent size bounce my car makes a thumping noise? does ne1 have an idea on what it is? i am thinking its either something with the suspension or my exhaust is loose.

Most likely a front strut is going or gone and/or your rear shocks are in need of replacement.I need fronts struts and everytime I hit a bounce it sounds like hell.Possible your exhaust could be loose but I would put money on the first two

second that...I just changed my right front strut...everytime I hit a bump if felt like I was breaking something...Brought the strut myself and had a mechanic put it in for $75. When he showed me the strut it was the orginal ...mind you I have a 94 camaro.

The shocks in the rear are cheaper then struts....but you don't want to go with real cheaps shocks either....because the more upgrades you do speed wise, you have to modifiy your suspension to handle it. If you are going to buy shocks get KYB's.

i found out that the thumping is the coil/spring that is next to the shock. i think its hitting metal on metal but im not sure, it just makes like a thumping/cranking noise whenever the car hits a major bounce. is that a hard fix and will it cost a lot of money?

Springs aren't that expensive and don't buy real cheap ones either it will affect the handling of your ride. Checking with some of my people...it should cost around $150 to install. But aftermarket springs is the way to go.
