Here's a shot of the same part on my 97 LeSabre. Is the part the same on the FWD version of the 3800? In the OP's pics the elbow seems to be in a slightly different position or oriented differently. Maybe because the tensioner has been loosened??? Those plastic elbows in the cooling system are in the same league as the quick-connect coolant fittings at the 3.4 intake manifold. Yuck!

 

It's a little different, but I can see the elbow pretty clearly with that pic. I dont really know much to say which parts look different, lol
