hypertech programmer??
Got a 95 camaro with the 3.4 v6. I was wondering if anyone has played with the hypertech programmers on one of these. Is it really worth the $400 when it comes to giddy up and all around performance of the car??

Your 95 has kinda a hybrid OBD. It is not OBDII but it is more advanced than the OBDI or ALDL as GM called it. ALDL is "Assembly Line Data Link" You can use the hypertech programmers on your engine and you can make changes to your tune. Unless you have your car on a dyno there is not alot of tuning you can accuratly do. The programmer can change things like your gear ratio. fan turn on temp, tranny shift points and stuff like that without a dyno. Also some of the programers can read your CEL which is a handy thing for troubleshooting a badly running engine.

With a 3.4 there is not much to work with, and reprogramming the PCM is not going to make a noticeable difference in performance. These engines can be made to perform, but it requres a lot of work, such as changing heads and intake from a front drive 3.4.
The best thing would be to keep the engine in good tune, and enjoy the car for what it is.
The PCM is OBDII, but the diagnostic connector is configured as OBDII.
