I'm not to sure how long it has been doing it just bought the car yesterday it wasn't doing it when I test drove the car. Drove it home 200 miles then it started doing it. It doesn't sound like a differential hum it kind of sounds like an electric motor running like a power antenna or something of that nature.

I haven't ever really payed attention to it when i started it up because its not annoying then but when you start driving it gets really annoying. but i will check into that.I know what a gearhumsounds like and this is not what it sounds like. i kind of thought it was the fuel pump. but its kind of coming from the driver side of the car. if it was differential related would it be making noise while its in park?

I just had this same problem andI posted the same question as you a few weeks ago. It was the fuel pump. After the humming started it lasted about2 weeks before it started going out so I'd get it fixed pretty quickly.
