Default Homemade CAI or RAI

Has anyone here made their own? I was thinking about making one up and wanted to get some more ideas. What kind of boot could i use at the intake? I also want to have the filter tucked in the front so i could direct air to it. I would like it to look clean and keep it about 30-40 bucks not including the cone filter.

You can get a cheap CAI on ebay for under forty for a '95. I don't recommend for '98 or newer, but it should improve the earlier pre-98 style.

I checked out the ones on ebay & this one #1 seems to have too many 90 degree bends. I know air likes the least amount of bends as possible.

This one here #2 seems to be better and would be what i would model a homemade kit from. It's just don't think it's worth that much $

One question though...once i get the cone filter in a good spot do i have enough room on the front clip to direct air to it with another pipe? What would be the best way to do this? I will make a heat shield out of some tin so it will not suck it the hot air.
