Hesitation issues
Hey everybody,
My camaro is a 2000 v6 with the 3.8. The issue that I am having with the car has been going on for quit sometime now. When I am driving in town i notice that it starts acting funny. What i mean by funny is that when i give it gas while its accelerating its making slight jarring movements i guess you would call it? Its increasing in speed but as it is doing so I can see the RPM gauge slightly jumping up and down and i can even hear it though the exhaust. If i give it enough gas to make it go into a lower gear the jarring stops until i reach the speed im trying to get to. After 65 mph the jarring stops all together. I have changed the spark plugs and I am about to change the wires when i get paid friday. But any other idea on what it could be? Ive heard it could be a number of things like the transmittion and so on, but i dont think the transmission is the issue because it shifts fine, I have put seafoam in it to clean the injectors and what not, im just not sure of what else to do and I definitly dont want to bring it to Chevy cause they charge a arm and a leg.

the car idles fine, is there any further tests that could be done to it to determine if that is what my issue is, because its becoming quit annoying.

answer the questions that have been asked please.
Is the Service Engine Soon light on?
How old are the plugs and wires?
When in gear holding the brake at idle does it seem to stumble even a little?
have you hooked a fuel pressure gauge to the car and gone WOT?

We are trying to get more information out of you because there are dozens of test and most has some cost of tools to buy or rent.
When a car does not run "right" we say the has a drivablity issue. Mechanics that work on drivablity issues on fuel injected cars are the highest paid in the shop. We can not simpley tell you what is wrong with your car. Even if I was sure what your feeling is what I concider a stumble there are 4 or 5 things that will do it.
You should make sure all the normal maintenance is up to date. plugs, wire , fuel filter, air filter even the PCV valve.
Then if the issue is still there give us as many details as possible. When it does it when it does not do it. RPMs, load. Does it do it in 3rd gear only or in all gears? Its all part of the puzzel.
FYI, one common mistake owners do is running their spark plug wires too long. They build up resistance and cause the coil to fail under load. Most noticable when you first hit the throttle. If new plug wires make the car run better plan on changing the coils real soon.

i have recently changed the spark plugs, but didnt change the wires yet. the onlu time it starts stumbling that i can notice is around 40 to 65. while im giving the car gas its picking up speed just stumbling. if i give the car enough gas to make it down shift it stops until i reach the desired speed. then if i sloe down and have to accelerate again it starts back again. but after 65 mph exactly there is no more hesitation. but at 59 or 58 it will continue to do it. i knoe i need to get those spark plug wires changed as soon as possiable. fuel filter has been changed recently air filter was check yesterday matter of fact, was a little dirty but to bad, will most likely replace it soon as well. my car also have the other drive optiion. it has the (D) and the regular d, i normally drive in (D) but if i drive it in the regular d i dont notice it as bad, but i will do it if im driving it for an extended period of time. as far as the pvc valve is concered i have no idea what or where that is. is it something i could clean myself? if so how? no service engine light has ever come on either. as for the rpm, when its doing the shuttering the rpms are literally jumping i can watch the need for the rpms jump us as the car starts to do the shuddering. i can hear it through the exhaust and as feel it. the car idles flawlessly, at times it does seem to idle rough, but nothing that would makr me think that something was wrong with it, not fuel presure gauage and i have no idea what a WOT is. lol sorry im new to this.
the car has 137879 miles on it and the transmission. i can honestly as that other than regulsr maintance on it, the car has been a trooper.
