There might be a short. You can always pull the fuse for the security system.

The security lite usually comes on because the resistor pellet in the key has gone bad, the contacts in the ignition switch have gone bad, the wiring between the swich and the security module is bad, or the security module itself is bad. The module sends a pulse coded signal to the PCM when it sees the proper resistance from the key. If the PCM does not see the signal from the security module it will turn off power to the injectors. Try a spare key, if that fails you can force the security module on by wiring the approprite resistor to the module wires where they attach to the switch.
This site shows how to bypass the switch. http://shbox.com/1/vats_bypass.jpg

When I went to get my starter changed they had a hell of a time because i guess the safety neutral switch went out so they had to put in a push button start. but yeah i still have to insert the key and turn it to the on position. So I don't think id want to
bypass that or you could start my car with no keys. lol

I tend to agree with you. Usually you don't want to bypass the security unless the security contacts in the ignition switch went bad, and you don't want to go through the hassle of replacing the switch. You still need a key to turn the switch on, but you no longer need a key with a resistor pellet, because the security module is permanently enabled.

well why didnt the shop just jump the neutral start switch, i think it would have been easier and less tacky.
