hey yall,
ive had my 2001 v6 camaro for about a month now and shes my baby. i went on a beach trip with my girlfriends and it broke down. i drove all day to get here, and after it sat for a few hours it cut off on a trip to get something to eat. i was on my way home when my checkgages light came on and my car sputtered to a stop. the lights still all come on and i have a 1/4 tank of gas so i dont think its electrical or just dumb blonde. when i try to crank it up it turns over but then sputters out like its not getting any fuel. someone said it might be the fuel pump but im stuck at the beach with limited cash and i dont have time to guess. if anyone has any sudgestions i would REALLY appreciate it ASAP PLZZZZZ!!!!

Try putting in a few gallons of gas. GM gages are not very accurate, and many are empty at the 1/4 mark.

 

i dont think thats it. ive had my car running with the gas light on so im pretty sure the gage is fine, but i might try it anyways before i do anything drastic.
any other sudgestions?

 

when you turn it on start giving it a little bit of gas before it starts to go out.

 

i tried that, the same way you pump the gas when you're trying to jump start..so thanx newayz..any other ideas

 

i would try putting a little more gas in just to see what happens. not exactly sure what it could be though. so your able to get it running for a few seconds or so then it starts to bogg down and turns off?

 

yea it cranks up and less than 5 seconds later slows to a stop. tomorrow im going to try gas just incase the fuel gage got messed up on the trip. but do you think this could possibly be the fuel pump? i did have another car that when i ran out of gas the brakes locked up, this happened tonight also.

where are you at west coast east coast? ill give my buddy a call he owns a auto shop that specializes in GM. ill ask him then hit you up. he has done all the work on my 2000z28, i could even give you the number to call if you want
