Hello, I need help installing my power window motor. I have no Air Condition and I live in South Texas so the heat in unbearable, and my window not rolling down makes it worse.. lol... I took my beloved camaro to the shop and they told me the window would cost about $250 to fix, which is retarded as I can get a motor for like 30 bucks.. So I was just wondering if anyone has some sort of documents showing me how to install the motor... Than You

 

I had to replace the motor in mine twice... it's no easy task on my 97' RS. It can be done by yourself and another set of hands. You need special rivetts not screws. I would recommend taking it to a bodyshop/dealer to get it done. If the window motor continues to go out consider having the entire inner workings replaced because over time they can become loose and put more stress on the motor causing it to go out.

 

Hope this helps, but after you done you will find that $250 is reasonable.

Note:The sector gear is spring loaded and must be locked into position before detaching the motor,


REMOVE:
Interior door panel
Window regulator assembly with motor assembly.
Drill hole through window regulator sector gear and backplate.
Install bolt and nut to lock sector gear into position.
Drill out rivet
Push rivet mandrel out of rivet with a punch.

INSTALL:
Motor assembly
Rivets.
Remove bolt and nut used to secure sector gear.
Window regulator and motor.
Interior door panel
