Are you wanting just the gears, or a whole new/used rear? Try craigslist, contact these guys http://www.tacreationsusa.com , or try a junkyard.

Just make sure what you get didn't have traction control, and you should be fine. Rear gears may be different, depending on what you get.

I am new here but I just finished putting gears in mine (99) yesterday. I did alot of research and found that if you do an internet search for late model salvage you should come across a guy near San Antonio Texas that has rears for late model Camaros for around $250.00.
All others I found were in the $1000.00+ range. A buddy of mine bought an LS-2 and 4L60E from him. He specializes in removing parts not cutting them from the car...
I have only visited his website once and don't remember the name but if you can't find it I will do what I can to help.
From what I understand Chev changed the carriers to the Torsen type in 98 or 99

Let me ask this again... Are you wanting just gears, or are you wanting a whole new rear end?

Since you asked, I changed my gears and it breaks down like this
Gears and installation kit with instructional video $330.00
12 ton press115.00
Bearing splitter 60
Pinion depth tool 28
Setup bearing 12
spacer that replaces crush sleeve 17
Royal Purple 25
about 10 hours of time.
