help with a 94 3.4L
i just bought my camaro and now the check engine light is comeing on, i bought an obd 1 reader, hooked it up, and the check engine light doesnt blink to give any codes.
also if i jump into my camaro and try to start it up, it just dies but if i wait untill the cpu cycles and the check engine light comes on, the car will stay rinning. i just did a tune up on it: plugs/wires, oil/filter, m.a.p. sensor, air filter. does anyone have any sugestions?

What do you mean by "CPU cycling"? What happens when you take the key to ON (not start, but on), is the fuel pump runs for a few seconds to get fuel pressure up. Sounds to me like you have a leaky fuel system. Either it's leaking to the enviornment, or leaking back to the tank when you shut the engine off. Or perhaps the fuel pump is on it's way out. Does the engine run smooth and pull strong?

it feels like there is alot less power then there should be, it spits and sputters like its gonnastall out. what i ment about the cpu cycleing, if you just get in the car and turn the ingnition, the car will start run for a split sec. then then engine shuts off. but if you get in, turn the ignition to accesory, wait till the check engine light turns on and start it, it will run.

Has anyone had experience with a bad fuel filter? I replaced mine within the last year for the first time, and am now not getting reliable starting due to fuel pressure. I have a hunch that Fram's fuel filter is garbage, but haven't replaced it again - yet. I am getting the fuel pressure tested today...

RE: help with a 94 3.4L
UPDATE: Just found on my '95 3.4L that the Fuel Pressure is 32-35 when running, and is supposed to be 38 to 52 when running... It does not hold pressure after I turn the key it goes down to zero, but starts on the 3rd or 4th try. So it needs a new fuel pump.
This will be this car's 3rd fuel pump, and Chevrolet surely put back in the OEM Delphi pump (maybe 6 years ago, although that time was because I ran the car out of fuel -- oops!), so I am thinking of going with Bosch this time from Advanced Auto which carries a limited lifetime warranty, at $198.
I am thinking of making a hinged access panel in the hatchback, so does anyone have a URL to get instructions and measurements for this? Otherwise the install charge is about $300. Once the access panel is made, is it simple after that -- i.e. just remove the old and insert the new with strainer?
TIA

Yes, within the last year I had the fuel filter changed -- wonder if it's possible it is dirty after such a short time? Maybe the shop that changed it somehow shook things up and loosened a bunch of gunk?
I hate guesswork... ;-)
