Default help!!!

Yesterday we were messing around around with a 1998 camaro rs and all the sudden the car wouldnt go into gear and it started making a grinding noise so we looked underneth and the driveshaft was spining fine but there is this gold thing it connects to before it goes to the rear end, and the drivshaft was just spinning inside it. Can someone tell me what it is and how i fix it?

I dont know what it is, It does connect them though. It might be a coupler or something but so you know how much it is to replace and what it is called

It is a little difficult to figure out what you are trying to tell us, but if your driveshaft is spinning and the car is not moving, you either broke one of the driveshafts, a U joint, or your rear end gears. The RS has a two pece driveshaft with a support bearing in betwenn the two parts.

well ok the front part of the driveshaft is spinning but the back part is not spinning, so is that the "support bearing" If so Can you buy that or do you have to buy a new driveshaft.

From what you are telling me you broke something between the front & rear drive shaft. In any case, you will have to pull the driveshafts down & see what is going on. Most likely a uneversal joint let go. The bearing itself is only there to hold the driveshafts in place.

98 didn't make a RS. Some had the body kit, but were not badged as an RS. 97 was the last year.
