Hey guys. What's the solution to heater hoses on these cars? I bought my daughter a really clean '96 with the 3.8. After two months of driving it, it developed a pinhole in one of the heater hoses. To make a long story short, she drove it with no water until it cooked a head. I tore it down and thankfully, it did not crack the head. Anyway, I went to the Chevrolet dealer and the heater hose assy(both hoses) have been discontinued by GM. He is doing a search, but so far no luck. What are my options? I hate to piece something together because it needs to be dependable. Thanks for the help

 

Hose clamp with a piece of rubber under it...Would think that would holdup for awhile.

 

No, the whole length of the hose leaving the engine is soft all the way to the crimped fitting. I can't come up with anything that wouldn't worry me later. Especially where the plastic clamps screw on to the alt. bracket. Any help out there?.............
