Headers: OBX v.s. Pacesetter
#12
Interesting, thanks for the tip.
I'm looking at this way for cost:
painted Pacesetters= $230-$250 without shipping, then another $40 or so for paint stripper and header paint. So I'm looking around $300 give or take a few
chrome Pacesetters=$350-$450
I'm okay with doing the stripping and painting, it doesnt seem that complicated.
Did you get Abbott Racing gaskets?

Just incase anyone finds this while doing reseach. I have had the OBX for almost 4 years and 70K at this. No issues, they turn a nice goldish tint near the top. I have had the Y pipe off twice while working on the car for other problems. All stainless hardware is well worth the money.

You know that you like the only one I've ever seen post anything about the obx headers. If I every need to change mine that's what I will be getting, just couldnt pass up the $100 shipped deal I got on my pacesetters.

Funny, I have never seen the weblink posted for the OBX headers, which do look nice... Oddly, they are advertised only for '95-'99 -- wonder if there are any issues on '00-'02 applications? Anyone know?

One too many O2 sensor? One thing I noticed on mine was that the 02 EGR valve set up fit better then the 96. Since my replacement engine was an 02 I just used the 02 mount.

there the same, even the pacesetter's are only meant for the 95-99 3.8. pacesetters do come with a plug for the pre cat O2, and the egr is 50/50, some have problems with it, some dont. I deleted my egr, so I cant say.

For those who have done it, how many hours is the average for an on-car 3.8L header/y-pipe install, let's say with no lift?
PS: found out OBX Headers are made in China, but I would still get them over Pacesetters...
