headers and converter
my pacesetter headers and y-pipe just came in so its time to put them but the local muffler shop wants to charge me $85/HR. plus $425 for a new converter[sm=yikesomg.gif]. so to save somemoney i decided to install them myself but i heard its a pain in the a$$, is this true? as far as the converter goes its shot so it has to go no matter what so i was thinking of gutting it out (we dont have emissions test) but how would that effect the sound and the engine.

RE: headers and converter
its not too bad, you just will have to remove the starter, steering shaft
you may have to cut the old cat off, and depending on the headers you got you may have to do some welding, but 85 an hour is pretty normal, why did they say you need a new converter ? is yours bad ?
