I'm doing a head gasket job on my 3.4L and was wondering if there is anything else I should take care of seeing that I have the heads off already. I have the head gasket kit as well as the new head bolts, so minus regasketing the top end is there anything else?

 

This is a good time to get a valve job done, and the heads resurfaced to get a good gasket seal. The intake and exhaust manifold gaskets will also have to be replaced.

 

what Pete said and really clean out the manifold ports

 

might as well change your thermostat while your at it.. could hurt
