GTech Pro
I just got mine in the mail today and I have to say I'm very pleased. To you that arn't familiar to the GTech, take a look at this site http://www.gtechpro.com/
measures:
Horsepower
Torque
60 ft. time
1/8 & 1/4 times
0-60 & 0-100-0 mph
RPMs
and how many G's your pulling
I think it is well worth the $200.
and what is an average 0-60 and1/4 time for a 98 camaro?

RE: GTech Pro
I guess thats not to bad considering it has 140,000 miles under the hood and its automatic
I'm honestly not sure. I was trying to figure it out, but its got me beat lol Its extremely easy to install though, all u have to do is stick it to your windshield and plug it into your cigarette lighter. Then set it up by calibrating the RPMs, and entering your car weight. It takes like 5 minutes. Im very happy with it though

I think it said something like 180 hp and 210 ft. pds. of torque. Which seems kinda low but it says that there is a technique to measuring horsepower and tourque other than just stomping on the gas, that will get better results. It also says unlike the factory where they measure HP streight from the engine and unlike Dino testing where they get HP from the wheels, Gtech takes it from the driveshaft and includes Aero drag. Im going to try the technique they said to try tomorrow and see if I get better results.

How does it figure all that stuff? How do you install it?
(force)= (mass)x(acceleration)... since it knows the weight or mass andthe sensors inside give it the force readings it can calculate acceleration. then knowing this it can calculate horsepower at the wheels with the acceleration and weight... then through the addition of time it can calculate 0-60 times and 1/4 mile times 60foot times etc... the lateral handling g's just come straight from the g-force sensors inside of it. and finally it measures the RPM through the ciggarette lighter (not positive how tho)

I dont think the factory measured HP from the crank for many years. Back in the late 70s, early 80s there was a big HP drop because they started measuring at the wheels. This is how they made your car look less powerful for insurance and such.
