Default gripe about finding parts for 95 Camaro

While I'm new to this particular forum, I do have a gripe with GM about the inavailibility of replacement parts for 4th generation Camaros. Why is it everyone says it's caused by the "economy of scale" but I have no problems at all finding parts for my 88 Mustang? In my opinion parts aren't availabe b/c GM realized that the 4th gen. Camaros were fiberglass failures, which is amazing considering the corvette is and has always had a fiberglass body.

Gm is just like that for parts. They stop production and only make the parts for the next year and slowly sell them off.

What is it your looking for?

Liberty not everyone can afford a new camaro. I know I sure can't and by the time I can I'll be getting a duramax diesel instead.

Ford Keeps the older parts and does not sell them off to aftermarket suppliers, GM does. I was able to buy parts for my 66 Mustang's factory woodgrain wheel from Ford... Funny thing is, the parts that were available from Ford were not available from the aftermarket. Thankfully GM allows the aftermarket to reproduce its parts so we can keep our cars running and looking good.

@ Liberty -Why should we bother buying 2011 or 2012 Camaro when GM has already proved that they are going to treat it like an unwanted stepchild? Don't keep hopes up, Hyundai is making 2012 Genisis coupe rwd with 469hp v8, 7speed stick, all under 3200 pounds. All three Pony cars are going to have to seriously revised (Lower MSRP, loose a lot of weight, gain more horsepower, and finally get rid of archaic solid rear axle) to keep up.

@ 3800 - looking for replacement door skins & hinges, interior trim pieces. and looking to replace rear axle with posi unit with rear disc brakes from Z28 0r SS.

The Camaro and the Challenger are both IRS... You may need to read up on the local Pony car scene. The V8 Genesis last I heard was only a concept. Granted the V6 version puts the American cars through their paces, it still does not put it all out there.

For the rear end look for a used one in your local classifieds and the interior parts try www.newgmparts.com. I think I've seen some also on youngsfbodies.com and there was another site just can't think of it... I'm sure one of the other users have been on some aswell. eBay is also good if you don't mind used parts.

Well surely buy what is best for you, I agree with your sentiments, however it would not stop me from upgrading in the future...

I would strongly suggest PMing folks on the GM Camaro team people like Scott Settlemire and see what reply you get, his PM screen-name is fbodfather on Camaro5.com

The 6th Gen Camaro (along with other cars like the CTS) is due on the Alpha platform, and will be shedding a lot of weight... GM will be competitive...

PS: the 5th Gen has an IRS already...

For many parts, junkyards are likely your best bet.
