Default grinding noise

my car sounds like it is grinding where the tranny is but only going up a hill or when there is major tension.but when i push on the gas it stops for a second then starts again.then after it does that for a while it starts doing it in nutral and while it is idleing . Anyone have any ideas on what it is or how to fix it?????

does it make the noise when you are sitting still too or only when you are moving?

yah its not the carrier bearing or the u joints if it does it at a standstill. like duck says check to see if the converter cover is lose or damaged and while your down there check to make sure the starter is not lose. maybe take the converter cover off and make sure the converter bolts are tight. whens the last time u had the tranny serviced? need to change fluid in em every 50k or so.
