Default gauges

My mechanic is going to look up to see the causes of temp gauge not working so he can see what my problem is. Our silver camaro hasn't had a temp gauge working since we bought it feb 14th. Today it decides to work. What gives there? Here's a pic of those gauges. Dont pay engine light any attention, its O2 sensor according to code.

What should the temp reading be?
Also is the oil pressure too low?
And is that where your battery gauge should be reading? Mine wasn't that high yesterday.
Is that gauge an indication of what your battery reading is or is it telling you the alt is working?

All the gauges look like they are reading fine except the oil press. Where does it sit when you are driving. It should be in the middle of the gauge. If the temp all of a sudden started working I would first check the plug (yea I know more wiring) and make sure there is no corrosion then move to the sensor. If none of that works then the cluster may be the cause.

I told him to pay attention to it when he drove and he's home now and the dummy didnt notice it. I'm pretty sure though on mine the battery gauge wasn't reading that high lastnight. Is it lower until the battery charges up some or what exactly is that an indication of?

Also, do you know why my coolant was low in mine after sitting still for weeks on end? I will pay attention to it in next couple of days and see how thats working too.

The center mark on your battery gauge is 13 volts, the next mark closer to the 18 is 15.5 volts. Your alternator is putting out 14 volts, and your gauge will generally read higher for a short while after you start the engine (alternator is putting out more initially to recover). Plus these factory gauges aren't considered deadly accurate performance gauges. You're fine. Your oil pressure however is way low, providing the gauge is accurate.

^ When did that happen? The battery is discharging and oil pressure is up. Is that not at idle I presume. The previous pic shows them the opposite.

Two different Camaros, Camaro 69. Not good if the oil pressure in the 1st Camaro is low. Could be the pressure sensor switch.

Well you have one with low oil pressure and one with good oil pressure but the one with the good oil is not charging.

At least you can make one good car from the two!
