Fuel pump went out, replaced it...
So my son calls me and says that his car wont start. I go over and look at it and it's not getting fuel. Starts right up when you spray a small amount of starter fluid at the air intake. I ordered a replacement pump from RockAuto, cut the trap door in the floor and swapped it out. While cutting the trap door I measured up 8" instead of 7" and cut a slit in the plastic vent fitting.
I bought a plastic weld epoxy and filled the slit and allowed it to dry before test driving the car. The next day after work I hopped in the camaro and it fired right up and idled great. Drove it around the block a couple times and no issues. Monday morning comes and I get a call from my son, he says the camaro sputtered and died while he was driving it. Hoped in the truck and went to get him. The fuel pump has quite... I haven't had a chance to look at it yet, we just had some snow dump on us. Whats the odds of the new pump going out? Any other thoughts?
I'm sure the odds are better than you may think. I have learned not to trust electronic containing parts from any place that ships them. Got a starter from rock auto that didn't work, it was new. They also sent me a used fuel pump before. A friend of mine who owns a shop says it happens all the time, get parts in and they don't work.

I went thru 3 before I got a good one. I found dozens of threads saying the same thing on other sites. Let me guess, it was an air tec.
If you can not hear the pump it is just frozen up if you can hear it the it is most likely just the factory installed hose popped off.
For me the first one was loud (car ran fine but even the parts guy said it was too loud) Second was a locked up after 2 weeks, it did nothing first thing in the morning. The third one popped the factory installed hose off while I was driving. I re-attached the hose and that is still in my car 30k later. I bough a spare high end one and mounted to my original pump assemble. If it acts up that what is going in there. No more Air tecs.

Well if it is the hose that popped off might as well just fix it. No telling if that pump is any worse then the next one. They should really make sure they tighten down before they leave the factory. Time to crack down on that pre teen labor force.
after using aftermarket pump in the truck and getting less than a year i used a oem gm pump, quite and still going like it should. i have a walbro in the camaro with 12k on it and no issues so far. i reused the stock case cutting the plastic glued spots and put the new pump in place of the old one, used a plastic welder to put it back together.
