Default Faq question???????

I was reading on how to upgrade my camaro and I saw that if I get a 3.73 Rear differential and an aggressive cam it really helps. But how much will it raise my horsepower ? How much will it cost in Parts and installation, unless i can do it my self. If i do this will this decrease my fuel efficiency ?

The 3.73 won't add any power but the car will accelerate harder. As to the cam, it depends on your engine. The better the engine can breathe the more agreesive cam it can use. On a dead stock egine you don't want too much of a cam as it can hurt the bottom end and without benefitting the top end. If the engine has free breathing heads, good headers and intake, and high compression, it will thrive on a very agressive cam.

The 3.73 will just get you off the line quicker ........ it will though effect the top end , as far as fuel efficiency ........ won't effect that , most likely use more due to the fact of the acceleration off the line.

what gears do you have now? It may not be worth swapping if you have a ratio close to 3.73. And depending on how drastic the change in gears is will affect the fuel economy. With the 2.77 I have at 65mph I turn low rpm's. With 3.73 they would be higher.
