Default Exhaust help

So two days ago my ses light went on for a cat. I wanted to do my exhaust system and this gives me more reason. What would be the cheapest way to do it? I am buying pasesetter headers but I don't know about the cat or cat back. I might just do a off road pipe but the only problem is my ses light will allways be on and those plug in things for them are $100. Also when I sell it the person might want a cat on it. The the cat back, I was thinking buying exhaust from a z28 or SS and adding a mangaflow muffler. Would that work? how much power would loose compaired to a magna flow cat back?

Thanks in advance

what year camaro? a couple of the guys have used a v8 exhaust on there base models and are happy with them. you can have the cats tuned out so the ses light goes off or you can unplug the light. do you need to pass emissions, if so you will want to keep the cat/s.

its a 1998. and I live in Minnesota so there are no emissions tests any more. Where would I get the light for the cat tuned out?

well to have the converter tuned out of the system you would need to send the pcm/main computer in to a tuner (someone that reprograms the pcm) and have it tuned (reprogramed) heres a couple places to look at.
PCMforless.com
LT1 PCM Tuning - OBDI/OBDII PCM Tuning/Programming Service
to unplug the bulb you would need to pull the gage pod out to get to it and pull it. this would involve taking the dash apart on the driver side

You COULD tune it out, OR just install an O2 Emulator:

the tune is about the same price and would net him more power and better mpg.

Those websites you posted tune V8's but would they do V6's? also the pcm tune seems to cost $250 compaired to the $55 emulator. What would I have to do to get a V8 exhaust to fix?

No you don't have to get a v8 exhaust. What you need is a new cat or possibly that o2 sensor is shot. Try switching that o2 sensor with the one before the cat and see if the code goes away or changes. If you still get that code then you need a new cat.

As for buying a new cat you can get either a stock cat or a magnaflow high flow cat. Or get the cat tuned out or buy the emulator.

As for exhaust you can buy the stock ss or z28 exhaust if you want. Or pick up a borla, magna flow, flowmaster exhaust system for the v6. But YouTube the system first and find one that you like the sound of.

Oh and I don't think it would make to much of a power difference between v8 stock exhaust and magnaflow v6 exhaust. I'm pretty sure both are 3". The v8 might be a 2.75"??
