EXHAUST decesion!
OK so i can get flowmasters put on at my local shop for only $230. or at another shop, this guy is like i'll put straight pipe from ur cat, into two duals with two magnaflow tips on (with NO muffler) for $135. Wut is better? Is not having a muffler good or bad? Im so stuck, my buddy got his truck done at the second guy, but he got the whole exhaust done. thanks
my buddy got straight pipes on his lexus sc 400 and had the catalytic converters gutted and it sounds alot better than my flowmaster y pipe...i'd go with the straight pipes...talk to him about the catalytic converters too
ok..do you have a V6 or a V8.?...On a truck straight pipes with no muffler is ok..but on a V6...no-way....it will sound horrible. If you want a real nice deep tone..I suggest you look into a magnaflow exhaust system. You can remove the cat and have a real nice sound. Magnaflows sound great on a six...if you have an eight then go with Flowmasters.
I'm in the same situation. I wanna get an exhaust system but I dunno what to get. I have a 95 3.4L V6. I live in Texas and I thought it was illegal to not have a catalytic conventer. In responce to 94 camaroLI, with my V6 is it better to have the Magnaflows without the cat or with it? And HP wise, is it better? I recently had a new motor and tranny dropped in. Stock parts just new/rebuilt.
Too much of a deal is made about the power increase obtained by removing catalytic converters. Back when CATs firt came out they were very inefficient and choked down the engine. However, modern CATs if the are in good condition, and sized properly use a minimum amount of power, and by removing them will not make a noticeable difference in performance. If the cat is in bad condition and then removed, then the difference in power will be noticeable.
As for the quality of exhaust noise, it all depends what you like. Personally, I like the sound of a fuel dragster, but I cant have it. lol

well..like z28pete said....you can get a high flow cat with minimum lost of power and you can pass your state inspection too. Go with the magnaflow cat-back system. It sounds really good on a V6.
ok, cool cool. Thanks for your opinion. I personal like the drowned out sound...Like the exhaust system is half sumerged in water. What kinda system is that? I intend to get an air intake, then from the manifold and back exhaust system, then either an electric supercharger or go ahead and add the headers. 2.25" are whats stock I believe so I'll see if I cant bump it up to 3", if not then 2.5". Then from there I'll adjust the PCM. Can't really think of much else within my range. What do you think of the electric Supercharger? It runs off the battery and adds 2.8 p.s.i. Do you think this is a stupid item or a rip off? Check it out on ebay. Gimme your opinion. Thanks
