Default Engine Fried?! dilemma!

Ive recentley gone on a roadtrip which seemed to fry my little 3.4 v6 engine.

Now i've got a choice and need help from some pros!

Since winter is coming I cannot drive my maro anyways.. so i was planning on selling it, but it is not going so well since it is a v6! But I love it and do not want to part from it.. So I was thinking maybe I can save up during the winter and then do a swap for a non-fried engine....

So i was wondering if anyone knew if it is hard to swap v6 engines? Cuz i was thinking I might just swap another v6 into it.

With that in mind... Ive always thought about the v8 swap but everyone has told me it is easier to just buy a v8 then go from there... So I was thinking what if I put a bigger v6 in it? Will I be conflicted with the same problems as the v8 swap or will it be fine?

Bottom line is.. if the v6 swap is simple and cheap I will just go for that.. but if my engine is fried.. will my tranny, exhaust, or anything else be done too?!

its not to terribly difficult, but you gotta know what your doin. but just plan for a lot of extra expences. as for your tranny and exhaust....i wouldnt worry about them. as long as they were fine before your 'fried' engine then they should still be ok if you put another v6 in there. if you got a v8, you would need another tranny. what makes you engine 'fried'?

The tranny won't fit. The 3.4 and 3.8's have different bolt patterens. Not to mention the frame mounts are different. For the 3.8 you would need a doner car. Just like the V-8

123? no. Its hard to say if its hard or easy, that depends on you. For a pro in a shop with a hoist its not a real tuff job. In my home grown shop which pretty well equipt except for a hoist I could pull the motor and put it back in my 67 three times and still not do as much work as one 3.4 swap.

Gorn, you weren't going nuts....this time!!
I'm sure you were remembering his other duplicate post where he mentioned a 3.8. I was on the same page as you, so we can't both be crazy!

its not as hard as they make it sound, you need to know what your doin. and you need the tools. like a cherry picker. can't have just a set of sockets and wrenches and think you well have it done in a day. if you have not done an engine swap on your own, i would find someone who has to help. like the guys have said forget the v8 and the 3.8.. the 3.4 can be a lot of fun in the right hands with some time and money. i'm working on a engine swap now in my 95 3.4

what is wrong with your engine?
