Default EGR tube gasket

Hi Gang,
I'm having a continuing problem with my EGR valve throwing a code from time to time. I've read that this particular engine has a known problem with the EGR tube getting dirty, so before I popped for a new valve, I decided to clean the tube first. I had to order the gaskets and when I took off the tube, the gasket for the intake side of the tube had what looked like a little black metal washer pressed into the opening, thus making the opening diameter smaller. The replacement gasket didn't have that. Does anyone know if this is what that gasket is supposed to look like? Thanks!

You might check www.rockauto.com . I just looked and they had quite a few EGR gaskets to choose from, but could not link the exact page since the address never updates. You might see if any of them look like what you're talking about.

Thanks for the link. I bookmarked that site for future reference, but they don't seem to have the gasket in question. I did call a local dealer and Chevy charges $23 for that gasket, so it must truly be something special. Thanks

The dealership is very proud of everything they sell.
