Unhappy EGR problems?

i have a 1993 camaro v6. the other day i was driving it and my cat converter must have finally pluged all the way up and it sent the exaust threw my egr, melted the egr one of my plug wires and my wire harness it got so hot. so i put a junk yard egr on it and knocked all the honeycomb out of the cat so it would not plug up also cheaked the wires they were ok. but now its hard to start and when i get it running it dies out if i hit the gas..... its like its getting to much fuel, it also has a rough idle. but if i get going down the road doing about 40 i can punch and it wont die out........ could this be the egr messing up? i think it is but i dont want to spend money on something thats fine.

flash your computer for trouble codes, look here on how to do it. http://shbox.com/1/dlc2.jpg let us know what comes up. does the car exhaust seem quite? if the cat went to pieces it may have plugged the muffler.

i dont think my exaust is plugged its got the normal sound and you can feel the exuast coming out pretty good. also im waiting on my obd1 and 2 scanner to come back from a friend to scan it.... it is throwing codes but i dont know which ones. also it smells really bad like gas in the front and rear of the car like the motor is flooding out ...... i went back threw and cheaked all the wires again and found a vacum line that was melted but its not one of the main ones i think its for my heater or something........ tommorrow im going to pull the plenum off and cheak some more wires and gaskets and my fuel injectors too im thinking that since the motor got so hot it might have done some damage in places i cant see.... but idk any advice or thoghts on the matter would be helpfull

yep could have cooked the gaskets, may have melted some of the o rings for the injectors. i would think that would bring the idle up.
