from drums to disk brakes

from drums to disk brakes
has anyone converted their rear drums to disk brakes on here before?
I found the calipers and mounting brackets for $50 on ebay. should I get them or is this gonna be a huge mess? But to be honest the drum brakes look awful behind my chrome 17 inch rims.

You may want to think about swapping the whole rear and getting better gearing, posi rear and disk brakes.
PM sent with some info on the swap.

This is a 4th gen V6? Seems way overkill for 200hp V6. A stock LS1 rear with the factory 3.42 LSD is designed to handle a lot more torque then a 3800 with boltons would ever produce. They can be had for $300 with low miles on it. Your going to be $1300 on building the above rear and you still need to do the brakes.

Well, if all you're after is the disc brake "look", theres a much easier and cheaper way to go: Aluminum Alloy Disc Brake Rotor Covers (Pair) - Free Shipping - DealExtreme

the look is good but I need something that'll stop the car despite the heavier back tires. I went ahead and got the calipers. so now comes the fun part of taking the drums off and putting the calipers on.
when someone can get a 3800 v6 to make almost 900hp. I'm guessing I'll manage to get around 500-550 with my 3800 so the 3:42 won't do me any good when I get there.

I do wish to see where you saw a 3800 V6 making 900 hp and am also curious as how you plan to make 500?

personally I'm stuck between swapping to a supercharger (yes I know the throttle body will face my firewall) or going turbo. as for getting a trans to handle that kind of power I also stuck between building a t56 (I'll have to have an adapter made) or getting Geforce's internals for the t5.
I do have ls1 calipers on my list for her as well.

and thats because 1: the stock T5 can't handle over 300hp, 2: I'm guessing most of the people leave the heads stock when swapping the m90 over and just have them tuned for the supercharger. I see no other reason why the m90 can't make almost as much power as the fwd other then pipe you have to use to get the throttle body turned around but I don't see that restricting the performance that badly.
