DRIVESHAFT SWAP

DRIVESHAFT SWAP
I have been doing a lot of research about swapping the 2-piece driveshaft for a 1-piece aluminum one because the center bearing on mine went out and I don’t want to pay 700 for a crappy 2-piece driveshaft. My question is what do I have to do? I can’t find any specifics on the whole procedure. Is there a write-up that has been done on this swap? Can someone give me some guidance or will the 1-piece fit in place with no problems and no further modifications or part replacements? Thanks

RE: DRIVESHAFT SWAP
All you have to do is switch out the driveshafts by taking off some bolts. 1 piece aluminum is the way to go though. Gets rid of some of that parasitic hp loss. Other than that you might have to lube the u-joint.

RE: DRIVESHAFT SWAP
You bring up a good point to me. Shortly after I got my car, the driveshaft broke and left me stranded on a busy road driving back from school. Add in the fact that it was 40 degrees that day. Anyway, I took it to ColemanTaylor to get it fixed for exactly $420(yes, 420, I got the receipt to prove it). After paying I asked why it would happen, and the guy simply said a crappy design plain and simple. So yea, i kinda want some info on wether a 1 piece is better and if it is possible.

I had my driveshaft break too on my '95 3.4L, and it was likely due to spinning too fast on ice then going onto pavement... Luckily that fix was covered by my extended warranty at the time. ;-) Always get the extended warranty, they totally pay for themselves if you drive your car hard & often.
