Default Drive shaft and sway bar

I have a 98 v6 camaro. Would a sway bar from a 93 z28 be a good upgrade and does anyone know if the drive shaft from an 86 z28 would be aluminum?

The stock front sway bar is hollow and the rear is tiny. I don't believe the drive shaft from 86 would be aluminum. Your best bet would be to get aftermarket sway bars like UMI and a 1pc alum from a 98-02 ss/z28.

The floor pan in a 4th gen is very close to the pan in the 3rd gen but that is where the similarities end. No the shaft will not work and it will be steel not aluminum. 98-02 will be steel one piece or aluminum and will be a major upgrade to the 2 piece shaft. IF I remember right the 93 Z swaybar was solid and had the same effective stability as the hollow ones that came later. Like Socom said go with a UMI bar and some good end links.

I pretty sure the 32MM hollow sway bar was on on late SS and the WS6s only. They are a nice improvement to the way the car handles. The UMI would be better but the 32MM hollows can be bought on ebay for $60 new. You will need the bushing for the 32mm and you should replace the links.

I have heard of guys putting aluminum shaft from 98-02 Z28s in 3rd gens but I have not heard of anyone going the other direction.

For the record, a 4th gen driveshaft will fit a 3rd gen, and vice-versa. I've done it, the dimensions are the same.
But the factory aluminum driveshafts were a later 4th gen deal.

The reason I ask is a guy is selling them for $10 a piece. The sway bar would come with the bushings

69, Is that all the 3rd gen drivelines? I know the 3rd gens came with many different transmissions. Anyway I pulled one out of a 3rd and test fit it to my friends 4th gen and it was too long.

They are the same, if the 3rd gen has a 700R4 which is what I was messing with (and referring to). The car from the one you got would have had either a TH350 or 200. Since those trannys are shorter, the driveshaft is longer.

Thanks 69, I am not sure what tranny it had I didnt bother to look I just got it out and matched it up to the one I had and noticed it was too long, then threw it back into the car.
