Default Drain the coolant before removing throttle body???

I'm planning on cleaning my throttle body and noticed in the GM service manual it says the first step in removing the throttle body on a 3.8 is to drain the coolant. Is this really necessary?

Partial draining is fine. If you drain 1 gallon you'll be below the level of the TB.

You don't have to, but once you remove the TB the coolant will drain on its own. lol

That's what I was thinking, I would take it off and a bunch of coolant just runs out...

Thanks!
