Drag Racing

Just out of curiosity, what's the fastest cars you guys have 1/4 mile dragged or less? Sparked a thought in my mind yesterday when I raced (and destroyed) my friend is his turbo 2005 Forester XT. The only reason I post this in tech is because my car is completely stock, but still I still beat an STI turbo. I've noticed the get up even in these V6's are amazing, so I'd like to hear your stories!

I would make sure his is turbo'd. If it is, I have a feeling he may have let you win. The EJ255 engines are quick in turbo form, especially coupled with AWD. Btw, it's not an STi. Only Impreza WRX's got the STi designation. They aren't the same engines either, the STi's have slightly different heads, different turbo and a different intercooler.

His was pretty heavily modified to fit an STi turbo. I remember the process of that and how long he couldn't drive it for. I really don't know anything about subaru's but I know it was a costly endevour. I can guarantee that his has a turbo, especially because every few seconds all you could hear was the high pitch of that BOV. I highly doubt he let me win though either, considering the wager was $250 and his reputation. More importantly the $250... If he did though, good for me. I just bought new headlight housing!

There is always the possibility he doesn't know how to race. I've just never driven one these sixxers and thought "wow that's got some power". But, I suppose a win is a win.

As to your original question, the fastest car I was in that was dragged will be my current Camaro once I hit the track. I'm shooting for high 11s

Your 02 3800 can run mid to high 15's with an automatic a Y87 3800 with 5 speed would run mid to low 15's. You should be able to search any other car and find stock estimated 1/4 mile times.

It depends if you are talking about racing a purpose built drag racing car or a street driven car. Back in the early 60's, before getting a special invitation from the President to join Uncle Sam's army, me and my partner used to race an "A gas Supercharged" hot rod. Henry J body powered by a Chrysler marine Hemy, topped with a 6-71 blower and Enderle injection system. Top speed at the end of the 1/4 mile usually in the low 150 MPH, but ET no too good, low 10s to high 9s, you had to be below 9.5 to be competitive. The tow car was a 1958 Chevy Impala with a 315 HP 348" engine, 4.56 rear for towing, and a 3 speed manual transmission. We use to race it occasionally for grins, and it would usually run the quarter in 14 second flat at just over 100 MPH, with street tires.

Mopar (Valiant)

normally aspirated 340
In order to fit wider tires I had to lift the rear (too cheap to tub)
3.55's

best I ever got was 11.10

some suspension work and 4.10s and I probably would have broken very high 10's

but, that was older technology

fastest car I ever "raced" was a rail who ran in the 8's

It's just how we ended up at the line

I had him the first 3 or 4 feet. I got him off the tree and then enjoyed watching him the rest of the way

It was a street race.

I dont know if is comparable, i had a Grand Prix GTP with the supercharged 3.8. I had boost upgrade, reflashed ECM, intake, headers, exhaust and heavy motor mounts and i ran 14.40 at 97. The fastest non supercharged one i seen run (this is in Calgary Alberta 3000+ ft elevation) was like 15.6.

Did you say "If I win, I take the money, and the respect. To some people that's more important"?
